Civil Litigation
If you have been in a lawsuit, you know that litigation is the modern form of combat. It can be difficult, frustrating and ridiculously expensive. Sometimes litigation is necessary; most times it's a distraction that takes you away from what you do best, your business.
I have litigated in jury trials in State and Federal courtrooms, handled appeals to the Minnesota Courts of Appeal, the Minnesota Supreme Court and Federal Courts of Appeal throughout the country. I have been responsible for defending class-action litigation and involved in protracted disputes involving shareholder claims and employment issues. If you are in litigation, or need to be there, I can handle your litigation needs.
I see it as my duty to consistently remind business owners that litigation is just another business transaction. As emotional as a lawsuit can get, it is important to remember that the result of most litigation is not a determination of justice, it is simply a reallocation of money between the participants. I will always make sure that you understand where the bottom line is in any lawsuit, and if you are fighting for a principle, how much that principle may cost you.
"The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy not coming, but on our own readiness to receive him; not on the chance of his not attacking, but rather on the fact that we have made our position unassailable. "
