Estate Planning

There are several primary factors to consider as you approach the estate planning process. First and foremost of course is what you leave your heirs and how do you leave it to them. In addition it is also often important to consider tax planning and how to avoid or limit state and federal estate taxes. I begin the estate planning process with a philosophy that your estate plan will usualy come into play at a time of crisis or grief when the last thing most family members will want to do is need to spend a significant amount of time with a lawyer or judge. As a result, as we design your estate plan, we will discuss ways to avoid or limit the probate process and how to make decisions now that avoid the need for someone else to make a decision for you later.  Halagn Law Firm, Ltd. regularly associates with Carlson Estate Planning, Ltd. in developing and designing estate plans for complex estates.
